About Lyth Arts Centre
Lyth Arts Centre (LAC) is the UK’s most northerly mainland arts centre, in the heart of Caithness. Established in 1977, LAC is a multi-arts centre presenting a year-round programme of live performances. From some of the most exciting small-scale touring companies in Scotland to internationally acclaimed artists, the programme includes theatre, dance, comedy, music and more.
LAC is based in a beautiful old building surrounded by trees and stone walls. Our characterful building houses a studio theatre, gallery, public café and purpose-built accommodation for visiting performers and artists.
LAC is a fully accessible venue, with a flat level entrance, accessible toilet and wheelchair spaces in the theatre. We are also a participating venue in the Highland Council’s Plus One scheme.
How to find Lyth Arts Centre
LAC is situated in the heart of Caithness between Wick and Thurso. LAC is approximately a 20 minute drive from Wick and 25 minutes from Thurso. Search for ‘Lyth Arts Centre’ on a sat nav, or follow the brown road signs.
LAC is poorly served by public transport. The number 177 and 277 bus runs infrequently during the week stopping at Lyth Road Junction (Lyth Memorial) which is a 15 minute walk to the arts centre. For more information on this route please visit Stagecoach North Scotland at stagecoachbus.com/timetables.

Visiting the venue in advance
We appreciate that visiting a new place can be a challenging experience for some people. If you have booked tickets to see Sound Symphony and would like to visit the venue before the performance day so the young person you are with has a chance to familiarise themselves and look around, please let us know and we will happily arrange someone to be there to show you around and inside the venue.
